Mumbai: 41 Arrested in Property Dispute Between Rival Companies
Real Estate Mumbai:According to Agripada police, a plot on the Bapurao Jagtap Marg near Jacob Circle in Agripada has been a subject of dispute between a real estate company and a pharmaceutical company. The conflict escalated on Saturday night around 10 PM, leading to a violent confrontation between the security personnel of both companies. The police stated that a lower court had ruled in favor of the real estate company, and the Bombay High Court had recently sought a status quo on the matter after the pharmaceutical company appealed the decision. However, this did not prevent the tensions from boiling over. Security agencies employed by the two rival companies got into a dispute on Saturday night. As per police reports, guards and bouncers belonging to the pharmaceutical company allegedly sprayed pepper spray on the guards of the real estate company and threw stones at them. When the two sides came face-to-face, it was alleged that one of the bouncers of the pharmaceutical company, who had a licensed double-barrel gun, fired a round in the direction of the rival security guards. This incident prompted the latter to call the police control room. A police team promptly arrived at the scene and took the accused to the Agripada police station. An FIR was registered against them, and a total of 41 persons from the security agency representing the pharmaceutical company were placed under arrest. They were produced before the court and remanded to police custody for a day. An officer from the Agripada police station mentioned that the real estate company had registered an FIR against the pharmaceutical company officials earlier this year. The complaint was filed after the pharmaceutical company refused to vacate the plot despite a court ruling in favor of the real estate company. The ongoing dispute highlights the intense competition and legal battles over valuable real estate in Mumbai. The city's booming real estate market and the high stakes involved often lead to such confrontations, underscoring the need for more effective dispute resolution mechanisms and stricter law enforcement.
