Mumbai: 41 Arrests in Security Guard Shooting Over Property Dispute
Real Estate Mumbai:According to Agripada police, a plot on the Bapurao Jagtap Marg near Jacob Circle in Agripada has been a subject of dispute between a real estate and a pharmaceutical company. The property has been a bone of contention for some time, with both parties claiming ownership. The police said a lower court had ruled in favor of the real estate company, but the Bombay High Court had recently sought a status quo on the matter after the pharmaceutical company had gone in appeal.

The tension escalated on Saturday night around 10 PM when security agencies employed by the two companies got into a dispute. According to police, the guards and bouncers belonging to the pharmaceutical company allegedly sprayed pepper spray on the guards belonging to the real estate company and threw stones at them. When the two sides came face-to-face following this, it was alleged that one of the bouncers of the pharmaceutical company, who had a licensed double-barrel gun, fired a round in the direction of the rival security guards. This incident prompted the latter to call the police control room.

A police team promptly arrived at the scene and took the accused to the Agripada police station where an FIR was registered against them. Based on the FIR, a total of 41 persons from the security agency representing the pharmaceutical company were placed under arrest. They were produced before the court and remanded to police custody for a day.

An officer from the Agripada police station stated that the real estate company had registered an FIR against the pharmaceutical company officials earlier this year as well. The real estate company claimed that the pharmaceutical company refused to vacate the plot despite a court ruling in their favor. This ongoing dispute has led to multiple confrontations, with the most recent incident being the most violent.

The property in question is located in a prime area of Agripada, a neighborhood in Mumbai. The dispute has attracted attention from both the local community and the business sector, as the resolution of the case could have significant implications for property rights and legal procedures in the region.

The police are currently investigating the incident and are working to ensure that the legal process is followed to resolve the dispute amicably. Both companies have been advised to seek a peaceful resolution to the matter to avoid further incidents of violence.
