The primary purpose of the JVLR underpass is to ease traffic congestion and provide safer pedestrian crossings at one of Mumbai’s busiest junctions.
The underpass will offer a grade-separated passage, making it safer for pedestrians to cross the busy JVLR junction without the risk of traffic accidents.
The construction of the underpass is expected to begin soon, as administrative approvals have been secured and consultants are already on board to initiate the work.
Other projects discussed include a new bridge to connect Madh and Marve, an upgraded sewage treatment plant at Versova Creek, and the redevelopment of longstanding market complexes.
The underpass will be designed with carbon-conscious engineering practices, reducing idle time for vehicles and lowering emissions in the locality, thus contributing to sustainability.
