The victim is Ajit Mahadev Pavaskar, a 75-year-old senior citizen and estate agent from Ghatkopar, Mumbai.
The victim was duped of ₹22 lakh in the Panvel flat scam.
The accused is Mahendra Gurunath Shete, a resident of Siddhivinayak Bungalow in Sector 12, New Panvel.
The accused promised to secure a flat in Khandeshwar, Panvel, at a significantly lower price and assured that the deal would be completed within three months.
The Ghatkopar police registered an FIR under IPC Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) and are currently investigating the matter.
