Mumbai Hoarding Collapse: Ad Firm Director Accused of Paying Rs 46 Lakh Bribe to IPS Officer's Wife
Real Estate Mumbai:A recent investigation into the Mumbai hoarding collapse that claimed 17 lives has led to some shocking allegations. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has accused Bhavesh Bhinde, director of Ego Media Pvt Ltd, of paying a bribe of Rs 46 lakh to the wife of then-GRP Commissioner Quaiser Khalid. The payment was allegedly made in exchange for permission to install a hoarding near a petrol pump in Ghatkopar, which eventually collapsed during gusty winds and unseasonal rains last month.

Somaiya has also claimed that Rs 5 crore was paid by Ego Media Pvt Ltd to various railway police and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials for allowing the installation of two dozen illegal hoardings in Ghatkopar and Dadar areas of Mumbai. The saffron party leader has written a letter to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, requesting him to suspend Quaiser Khalid for his alleged involvement in the scandal.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the hoarding collapse incident. According to Somaiya, the SIT has detected proof of Rs 46 lakh bribes paid to Kaiser Khalid through Mohammad Arshad Khan, who deposited the amount in Mahapatra Garments Pvt Ltd, a company owned by Quaiser Khalid's wife, Summana Quaiser Khalid, and Mohd Arshad K Khan.

The Mumbai hoarding collapse has raised questions about the negligence and corruption of government officials, and the latest allegations have added fuel to the fire. So far, five people have been arrested in connection with the incident, and action is expected against railway police and BMC officials.
