The victim, Shekhar Himmat Patil, was duped of Rs 1.07 crore by cybercriminals who promised him a cheap flat in Mumbai. The fraud took place over several years through 215 separate transactions.
Sanyam Devmani Pandey (36) from Badlapur East in Thane district was arrested by the Mumbai Cyber Cell for the cyber fraud.
The victim came across an advertisement on a Facebook page titled 'Apna Ghar Apne City Mai' and contacted the email ID mentioned in the ad.
The fraudster demanded money for various 'clearances' such as MHADA clearance, BMC NOC, and other fictitious formalities.
The Cyber Cell traced the email communication, analyzed IP logs, scrutinized the Facebook page, and examined linked bank accounts to identify and arrest the fraudster, Sanyam Devmani Pandey.
