Mumbai News: Sapkal Blames CM Fadnavis for Assembly Scuffle, Demands Resignation
Real Estate Mumbai:Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal has held Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responsible for the scuffle that broke out between the supporters of two MLAs on the state legislature complex premises. Sapkal has demanded Fadnavis’s resignation as a form of penance.

Addressing a press conference, Sapkal also questioned the BJP-led government over the passage of the special Public Security Bill, seeking to know whether the law would apply to Bajrang Dal and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as well. The scuffle erupted between supporters of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar and NCP-SCP MLA Jitendra Awhad outside the State Assembly.

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar condemned the clash, terming the incident as 'unfortunate.' The monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature, which commenced on June 30, culminated on Friday. Narwekar emphasized the need for maintaining decorum and respect within the Assembly premises.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in his response, refuted the recent altercation and stated that the behavior of both MLAs was not acceptable. Fadnavis said, 'We have condemned the incident. The behavior of both MLAs was not acceptable. They literally behaved like school kids. We are hurt by the incident and will make sure it doesn’t happen again.'

Meanwhile, CREDAI-MCHI, the apex body representing real estate developers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), has received its second letter of appreciation from Pankaja Munde, Minister of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Maharashtra. The letter acknowledges the initiative of planting 2,000 tree saplings at Bhagvan Bhaktigad, Sawargaon Ghat in Patoda, Beed district. The Minister highlighted how such efforts contribute to the Van Mahotsav and Green Maharashtra Mission, fostering ecological balance and long-term climate resilience.

The recent events have raised questions about the political climate in Maharashtra and the need for more responsible behavior from elected representatives. The scuffle and the subsequent demands for accountability highlight the tensions within the state’s political landscape.
