DK Rao, alias Ravi Mallesh Borra, is a notorious gangster and a long-time aide of underworld don Chhota Rajan. He has been involved in various criminal activities, including extortion and murder.
DK Rao was arrested for allegedly threatening investors on behalf of a builder who had defaulted on payments worth over Rs 1 crore. This is his second arrest this year, with the first being for issuing death threats to a hotelier.
The other two individuals arrested alongside DK Rao are small-time builder Mimit Bhuta and Anil Parerao, who allegedly acted as intermediaries in the intimidation plot.
The builder, Mimit Bhuta, is accused of taking money from several investors without completing the promised housing project. When investors started demanding their money back, Bhuta allegedly hired DK Rao to threaten them.
DK Rao and the two others have been arrested and will be produced before a court on Saturday. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the case.
