The accused are four individuals who were booked by the Nehru Nagar police for duping a 77-year-old woman of Rs 2.26 crore by fraudulently selling her properties and stealing gold ornaments.
The accused convinced the victim to sign an affidavit by claiming it was required for a passport application. Using these documents, they sold her properties and stole gold ornaments from her home.
The accused sold the victim's flat, her sister's flat in Virar, and additional properties in Thane and Belapur without her knowledge.
The FIR was registered by the victim’s 49-year-old cousin, Aparna Warekar, who discovered the fraud during a visit to the victim’s residence.
The victim, Jayashree Chavan, was found in a poor state suffering from memory loss and blurry vision. She was later hospitalized and diagnosed with cataract in both eyes.
