Real Estate Mumbai:In a major breakthrough, the Nehru Nagar police have arrested two individuals, including a purported real estate agent, who have allegedly defrauded at least 40 homebuyers in Mumbai. The accused, identified as 35-year-old Rohan Sharma and 28-year-old Pratiksha Shetty, were arrested on Wednesday after a complaint was filed by one of the victims.

According to the police, Sharma posed as a real estate agent and promised to provide affordable housing to the victims. He allegedly collected lakhs of rupees from the homebuyers, promising them a flat in a building that was never constructed. Shetty, on the other hand, was allegedly involved in creating fake documents and agreements to convince the victims.

The police have recovered several documents, including fake agreements, receipts, and identity proofs, from the accused. The victims have been identified as residents of Mumbai and its surrounding areas, who were lured by the promise of affordable housing.

The Nehru Nagar police have registered a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused. The police are investigating the matter further and are trying to identify more victims.
