Dr Arshia Siddique, Baba Siddique’s daughter, filed the complaint with the Bandra police.
The fraudster created a fake email ID in Shehzeen Siddique’s name, accessed her personal and company documents, and submitted a fraudulent request to the mobile company to be listed as the new authorised signatory.
The fraud was discovered when the mobile company replied to Shehzeen Siddique’s real email ID, revealing that a spoofed account had initiated the request for an authorised signatory update.
The Bandra police have registered an FIR under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including cheating by personation, attempt to commit offences punishable with imprisonment, making a false document, forgery, and using forged electronic records as genuine.
