The purpose of the tender is to invite Marina, ferry, and ro-ro operators, and passenger terminal managers to operate the yacht bay at Princess Dock, enhancing marine tourism and leisure activities in Mumbai.
The current tender is for a smaller yacht bay capable of accommodating about 20 yachts at Princess Dock.
The MbPA is leasing 215 acres of land along the coast for up to 30 years, including a 22-hectare plot at Princess Dock, a 1.2-lakh sq m plot that once housed an HPCL facility in Wadala, and a 42,955-sq m plot that used to house warehouses of the Food Corporation of India in Wadala.
The Mumbai Port Authority aims to earn a minimum of ₹814.04 crore in revenue annually from leasing the properties.
The original plan for the eastern waterfront included world-class amenities such as entertainment and recreational spaces, a state-of-the-art marina, convention centers, water transport facilities, and a global business district.
