A 30-year-old woman from Mahim, Mumbai, has filed an FIR against a 68-year-old man for allegedly duping her of ₹44 lakh in a real estate fraud case. The woman, Bhakti Ajit Rumde, was promised a flat worth ₹1.25 crore but the deal fell through after the accused, Ravindra Mohire, failed to complete the transaction.

Bhakti Ajit Rumde is a 30-year-old woman from Mahim, Mumbai. She is the wife of Sindhudurg-based builder Raj Anand Parulekar. The accused, Ravindra Mohire, is the father-in-law of Bhakti’s sister, Pooja Ruturaj Mohire.
The agreed sale amount for the flat was ₹1.25 crore, with an upfront payment of ₹42 lakh and the balance to be paid by May 31, 2025.
After the initial payment of ₹42 lakh, Mohire allegedly demanded an additional ₹20 lakh in cash. Bhakti managed to give ₹2 lakh, and a supplementary MoU was created to reflect this.
Bhakti has filed a case under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act at the 57th Magistrate Court in Bandra. She has also had a legal notice sent to Mohire and filed an FIR with the Shivaji Park police.
The Shivaji Park police have registered an FIR under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Ravindra Mohire. Investigations are ongoing.
