The SCDRC stands for the Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, a body that handles consumer complaints and disputes in the state of Maharashtra, India.
The complainants are Ritesh Jain and Vinal Jain from Malad, and Daisy Irani and Sheriyar Irani from Andheri, all residents of Mumbai.
The agreed possession dates were June 2019 for the flat booked by Ritesh and Vinal Jain and March 2018 for the flat booked by Daisy and Sheriyar Irani.
The developers were ordered to pay 8% interest on the total amount paid from 2019 until the actual possession of the flats, Rs 1 lakh as compensation, and Rs 25,000 towards litigation costs.
The developers argued that the complaint was time-barred and cited the arbitration clause, COVID-19, and delays in environmental clearance as reasons for the delay.
