₹1,300 Crore Water Supply Plan for Nagpur & Surrounding Cities

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-11-02

Nagpur and its surrounding cities are set to receive a long-term solution to their growing water shortage through two proposed projects worth a combined ₹1,300 crore. Maharashtra Revenue Minister and Nagpur District Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has directed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) and the Water Resources Department to prepare a detailed project report.

The initiative aims to strengthen water supply infrastructure across the Nagpur metropolitan region, which includes several developing residential and commercial pockets. For property buyers and investors, assured water availability is a critical factor that influences both property prices and long-term habitability.

Impact on Real Estate

Infrastructure upgrades of this scale often act as a catalyst for real estate growth. Areas under NMRDA, especially the peripheral zones, are expected to witness increased interest from developers and homebuyers once water supply becomes more reliable. Improved civic amenities typically lead to higher occupancy rates and better rental yields.

What to Expect

The authorities have been asked to submit a comprehensive proposal, after which the projects will be implemented in phases. While the exact timeline is yet to be announced, the announcement signals a positive outlook for Nagpur's residential and commercial property markets.
