Nagpur Gets 7 Special Trains For Dhammachakra Din

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-10-13

Central Railway will operate around seven special trains from Nagpur, covering 24 trips between October 18 and 22, to manage the annual rush for Dhammachakra Pravartan Din. The additional services are expected to ease travel for nearly 50,000 devotees arriving in and departing from the city over the five-day window.

Capacity added for the festive rush

The extra services will run on key corridors feeding Nagpur, easing pressure on regular mail and express trains that typically run full during the period. Rail officials have indicated extra checking staff and crowd-management arrangements at Nagpur Junction and other major halts.

Connectivity lift for Nagpur

Repeated demand-driven services reinforce Nagpur's position as a central Indian rail hub — a factor that has historically supported residential demand around the station belt and along the Nagpur Metro corridor. Improved festive connectivity also benefits short-stay hospitality and rental markets near the city centre.

Travel advisory for visitors

Passengers are advised to book early, carry valid identification and use the designated waiting areas, as platform occupancy is expected to peak on October 18 and 22. Local authorities will coordinate additional bus and taxi services at major arrival points to manage last-mile movement.
