By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-10-08

A land cheating case has been registered at Nandanvan police station in Nagpur after a buyer alleged that three people cheated him of ₹66 lakh by showing agricultural land that did not belong to them. The accused are also accused of using fake Aadhaar and PAN cards to complete the transaction, according to the complaint.
How the alleged fraud happened
The complainant was shown agricultural land and was made to believe that the accused were the rightful owners. The accused allegedly prepared forged documents and used fake identity proofs to convince the buyer and push the deal through. The police have booked three persons and have begun an inquiry.
What property buyers should learn
This case is a reminder for homebuyers and investors in Maharashtra to independently verify land ownership before making any payment. Buyers should check the title chain, obtain a recent encumbrance certificate, and confirm the property's records with the local sub-registrar office. Avoid transacting in cash or making payments to personal accounts without proper receipts.
Stay alert in Nagpur's real estate market
Nagpur has seen steady demand for residential and agricultural land, but fraudsters often target buyers who skip due diligence. Always cross-check identity documents, land survey numbers, and the seller's authority to sell. If a deal appears too good to be true, it probably is.
