Nagpur Property Fraud Alert: Fake Lawyer’s ₹3 Crore Extortion Plot

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-10-27

Nagpur’s real estate community has been put on alert after investigators unearthed an alleged sextortion conspiracy linked to a man posing as a lawyer. The accused, a Class 12 dropout, reportedly projected himself as a legal crusader for women facing abuse and claimed political connections in Uttar Pradesh.

How the alleged plot worked

According to the investigation, the accused is suspected of orchestrating a plot to extort ₹3 crore from victims. Such cases highlight the growing risk of fake legal advisors operating around property transactions, where buyers and investors often rely on legal opinions before finalising deals.

What property buyers should check

For anyone buying land, flats, or commercial property in Nagpur, verifying the credentials of lawyers and consultants is essential. Buyers should confirm bar council enrolment, check official documents, and avoid dealing with individuals who claim influence through political connections.

Authorities are continuing their probe. Until then, property investors are advised to carry out due diligence and report any suspicious demands for money to the police.
