Nagpur Railway Engineer Acquitted: Infra Governance in Focus

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-10-15

The Special CBI Court in Nagpur has acquitted Rakesh Kumar Sharma, a Senior Section Engineer (LOCO) with the Railways, in a corruption case linked to alleged illegal gratification in the supply of locomotive brake shoes by a Kolkata-based company. The court found the evidence insufficient to establish the charges.

Case in Brief

The prosecution had alleged that the engineer demanded and accepted a bribe in connection with the supply of brake shoes. After examining the material on record, the court ruled in favour of the accused, marking the end of a prolonged legal process.

What It Means for Nagpur Real Estate

For property buyers and investors in Nagpur, infrastructure-related cases carry indirect significance. Railway and logistics projects influence connectivity, land values, and the pace of new residential and commercial developments. A transparent legal environment helps keep such projects on schedule.

Industry watchers say the acquittal removes a layer of uncertainty around the procurement process. While the judgment does not directly alter any real-estate project, it reinforces the need for clean governance in infrastructure execution, which remains a key factor for sustainable urban growth in Maharashtra.
