The victim, Surekha Salunkhe (44), a resident of Mahadev Morya Society, was walking with her husband after dinner when the robbers struck. The incident took place around 10.30 pm near Bal Bharati School in Sector 4, Kharghar. As the couple strolled along the road, two men approached from behind on a motorcycle. The pillion rider swiftly snatched the mangalsutra from her neck and both sped off in the direction of Utsav Chowk.

Although the couple raised an alarm and shouted for help, the culprits managed to escape before anyone could intervene. The couple later approached the Kharghar Police Station and filed a formal complaint. The mangalsutra, weighing approximately 3 tolas and 5 grams, is valued at nearly ₹1.9 lakh.
