All buildings over 30 years old, as determined from the date of their occupancy certificate, are required to undergo structural audits.
Owners or occupants who fail to comply with the structural audit requirement face fines of ₹25,000 or an amount equivalent to their annual property tax, whichever is higher.
Residents can find a list of registered structural engineers on the official Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) website.
After completing the structural audit, residents or housing societies must submit a certificate confirming that the recommended repair works have been completed and that the structure is safe for continued use.
