NMMC Clears Kharghar Redevelopment; RERA Norms Apply

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-10-29

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has cleared redevelopment proposals for ageing societies in Kharghar and nearby nodes. With this approval, old residential buildings in the NMMC area can now move towards reconstruction and modernisation.

RERA registration now mandatory

All new redevelopment projects will have to be registered under the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). This makes the process more transparent and accountable for both existing residents and prospective buyers.

Boost for housing supply and infrastructure

The move is expected to accelerate housing supply in the NMMC region. Redevelopment of old societies will bring better amenities, safer structures, and improved infrastructure in Kharghar and surrounding areas.

For property buyers, this means more organised projects with clear timelines and legal safeguards. Existing residents of ageing societies will also benefit from better living conditions and higher property value.
