The OBC outfits are demanding the withdrawal of the Government Resolution (GR) that allows the Maratha community to obtain Kunbi certificates and the publication of a 'white paper' detailing all caste certificates issued since 2014.
The GR is controversial because OBC organizations believe it is detrimental to their community’s interests and could lead to unfair issuance of caste certificates.
CM Fadnavis assured the attendees that the state government is committed to delivering justice to every community within the legal framework and that no group, including OBCs, would face injustice.
The government has set up a verification system and a lineage committee to ensure that caste certificates are issued only on valid documents.
The OBC community protest march is scheduled for October 10 and will proceed as planned, despite some sections of the ruling dispensation wanting it postponed.
