The processing unit is designed to handle a substantial amount of textile waste, with an initial capacity of 500 tonnes per day. This capacity is expected to be scaled up as the project progresses and demand increases.
The PMC will launch educational programs and awareness campaigns to inform residents about the importance of segregating and contributing textile waste. Incentives such as discounts on municipal services or local goods will be offered to encourage participation.
The unit will accept a wide range of textile waste, including used clothing, fabric scraps, and other fabric-related materials. The advanced sorting mechanism will ensure that each type of material is processed appropriately.
The establishment of the processing unit will create new job opportunities in areas such as waste collection, processing, and recycling. It will also stimulate the growth of the recycling industry, leading to the development of new businesses and services.
The project is expected to be completed within the next two years. The PMC is currently in the planning and design phase, with construction set to begin in the next six months. Regular updates will be provided to the public on the progress of the project.
