Se Old Goa Panchayat Inspects Structures, Appeals by M/s Sweta Real Estate
Real Estate:PANJIM The Se Old Goa Village Panchayat recently carried out an inspection of two structures located in survey numbers 21/1, 22/1, and 22/2 at Ella, Old Goa. This action was taken following the directions from the Tiswadi Block Development Officer (BDO). The BDO had instructed the panchayat to inspect the structures in connection with an appeal filed by M/s Sweta Real Estate Private Limited. The appeal required the submission of a detailed report, including photographs of the inspected structures and their house numbers, by the next hearing date, set for November 7.

Vishwas Kuttikar, a former Se Old Goa deputy sarpanch and current panchayat member, provided insights into the process. According to Kuttikar, the panchayat had received three complaints regarding the house numbers assigned to certain structures. In the past, the appellant had twice refused to allow the panchayat to conduct inspections. Consequently, the panchayat had passed a resolution to revoke all house numbers. However, M/s Sweta Real Estate Private Limited later filed an appeal with the Tiswadi BDO, who then directed the village panchayat to inspect the structures in the specified survey numbers.

Kuttikar further stated, “Following the BDO’s instructions, we carried out the inspection and found two structures and a third one in ruins without compound walls. The panchayat secretary will submit the inspection report to the BDO.”

Glen Cabral, a local resident, commented on the situation. He noted that the builder had previously denied permission to inspect the area, leading the panchayat to revoke all house numbers. Cabral added that he plans to demand the disconnection of electricity and water connections to the non-existent structures, except for the two that are standing.

The Se Old Goa Village Panchayat is a local self-government institution responsible for the administration and development of the village. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that the community's needs and regulations are met. The panchayat's recent actions highlight their commitment to maintaining transparency and addressing the concerns of the residents.

The Tiswadi Block Development Office (BDO) is a government body that oversees the development and welfare activities in the Tiswadi block of Goa. Its directives and oversight are essential in ensuring that local institutions like the village panchayat function smoothly and effectively.
