Shailesh Ramgude, a social media influencer, was arrested for defrauding a 30-year-old architect of ₹93 lakh.
The police seized 1.25 kg of gold, ₹51 lakh in cash, four high-end mobile phones, and a BMW car from the accused's residence.
He befriended the victim on a dating app, built a relationship, and proposed marriage. Later, he claimed that the Enforcement Directorate had raided his home and needed money to resolve the issue, leading the victim to transfer ₹93 lakh to him.
The accused was already facing two similar cheating cases registered at Thane's Kapurbawdi police station, where he had defrauded two other victims of ₹43 lakh and ₹19 lakh.
The police have urged other potential victims to come forward and report any similar incidents and to be cautious of online relationships, verifying the identity and intentions of individuals met through social media platforms.
