The JCB operator, Rakesh Yadav, was buried under debris during tunnel shaft excavation work for the Surya Water Supply Project in Vasai, Mumbai, and remains untraceable even after 17 days.
The Surya Water Supply Project is a bulk water supply scheme to provide 403 MLD (million litres per day) of water to Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar areas in Mumbai.
The rescue operation involves teams from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire brigade, armed forces, and coast guards.
Despite the best efforts of the rescue teams, the JCB operator remains untraceable even after 17 days of the incident.
