Tragic Accident: Woman and 4-Year-Old Boy Killed by Truck in Bhiwandi, Thane
A tragic accident in Bhiwandi, Thane district, left a woman and a four-year-old boy dead after they were hit by a speeding truck near the main gate of Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital. The incident occurred on Thursday, according to a police official, and has sent shockwaves through the community.
The woman, identified as Soni Bano, was a resident of the Shantinagar area. She had come to the hospital to seek treatment for her brother. The accident took place as she was crossing the road with her four-year-old relative in tow. The truck, which was reportedly speeding, knocked them down, causing severe injuries.
The boy was immediately rushed to the civil hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later in the night. The police official from the Nizampura police station stated that the truck was seized, and the driver was later detained. A case has been registered against the driver for rash and negligent driving.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a 41-year-old traffic police constable died after being knocked down by a hydra vehicle (crane truck) in Navi Mumbai city of Maharashtra on Thursday morning. The traffic police constable, identified as Bablu Patil, was on duty near the Mahape bridge when the accident occurred at around 10:30 am. Bablu Patil died on the spot, and his body was sent for a post-mortem examination to a government hospital.
The police said that an FIR under relevant provisions of the new legal code BNS and the Motor Vehicles Act was registered against the heavy vehicle's driver. The driver was detained after the accident and sent for a medical examination. The police suspect that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
