Tragic Fall at Lohagad Fort Claims Life of 25-Year-Old Real Estate Director
A 25-year-old director of a prominent real estate firm in Pimpri Chinchwad tragically lost his life after falling into a 300-foot-deep gorge while posing for a photograph at Lohagad Fort near Lonavla, around 52km from Pune. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, leaving his family, friends, and fiancée in deep shock.
Family members of the deceased, Ketan Vishal Agarwal, revealed that he was set to get married next month. Lonavla Rural police inspector Dinesh Tayade provided details of the incident, stating, “Ketan was with his fiancée, friends, and relatives when he lost his balance and slipped into the gorge while posing for a photograph. His fiancée’s birthday is on Friday.”
Sunil Gaikwad of Shivdurga Mitra shared that the accident happened around 10:30 AM. “Rescue teams reached the spot within 30 minutes of being alerted,” Gaikwad said. “However, it took several hours for them to retrieve the body, which was later handed over to the police and sent for a postmortem.”
Inspector Tayade further mentioned that Ketan had recently returned from abroad after completing his postgraduate studies and had joined his father’s real estate business as a director. “His family members told us that a palace in Jaipur was booked for the wedding,” the officer added. The police have registered a case of accidental death.
Lohagad Fort, known for its historical significance and scenic beauty, has been a popular tourist destination. However, this tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety measures and precautions while visiting such locations. The local authorities have been advised to review and enhance safety protocols to prevent such accidents in the future.
