Trump's Luxury Real Estate Ventures to Expand Significantly in India
Real Estate Mumbai:India is set to host the most significant number of Trump Towers outside the United States, according to plans outlined by the Trump Organisation. Initially, four luxury residential high-rise projects were launched in Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon, and Kolkata. However, the real estate empire is now eyeing an ambitious expansion to 10 properties in the next six years, with additional projects in Noida, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and more.

Kalpesh Mehta, the founder of Tribeca Developers and Trump's luxury real estate partner in India, is optimistic about the future. Mehta, who hails from a family of architects, met Donald Trump Jr. at a New York bar 13-14 years ago, where they sketched out their initial plans on a cocktail napkin. Mehta, who completed his MBA from the prestigious Wharton School, where the Trump family also studied, shared that President Trump's advice has always been to focus on quality over quantity.

“President Trump has always emphasized that we should not undertake too many projects but ensure that each one is of the highest standard,” Mehta said. The Trump real estate business model in India is similar to that of management contract hotels, where the Indian partner, Tribeca Developers, invests in the physical assets, while the Trump Organisation provides branding and international expertise.

One of the notable events in the joint venture's history was Trump's visit to India in 2014, shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election victory. “During his trip, Trump expressed a strong admiration for PM Modi and the potential of India's real estate market. This admiration has only grown since Modi took office,” Mehta added.

The current Trump Towers in India, located in Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon, and Kolkata, cover a combined area of 30 lakh square feet and offer about 800 residences priced between Rs 6-25 crore each. The total sale value of these properties stands at Rs 7,500 crore. The upcoming projects, which will add another 80 lakh square feet of floor area and a total sale value of Rs 15,000 crore, promise to further bolster the brand's presence in the country.

Pune, which already boasts a Trump Tower, is set to get an additional complex featuring an office block. Other cities will see the development of a Trump golf course and villas. Mehta is confident that a Trump presidency will not only benefit the world but also strengthen the India-US relationship. “President Trump and PM Modi share a mutual respect, and this relationship has the potential to bring significant benefits to both nations,” he concluded.

The Trump Organisation continues to be the world's premier luxury real estate brand, and its expansion in India is a testament to the country's growing appeal in the global real estate market.
