Violent Incident During Mumbai Local Ticket-Checking Drive Injures Railway Staff and Passenger
Real Estate Mumbai:A routine inspection on board a Mumbai local train on Saturday turned violent, resulting in injuries to two railway officials and a passenger. The incident occurred around 3 PM when an on-duty Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector, Shamsher Ibrahim, was conducting a regular ticket check between Dadar and Borivali stations on the Virar Fast train.

Ibrahim initially found three passengers traveling in the first-class compartment with second-class tickets. Upon further inspection, one of the passengers was found to have no ticket at all for the journey between Andheri and Borivali. The trio was asked to alight at Borivali station for further proceedings.

However, at the ticket collector's (TC) office at Borivali Station, the situation escalated. One of the passengers became aggressive and violent in response to the ticket-checking action. The passenger reportedly damaged several pieces of railway property, including a computer and other items.

The altercation turned physical, resulting in injuries to both the railway staff and the passenger. Railway authorities promptly intervened and ensured that both parties were sent for medical attention. The ticketless passengers were handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further legal action.

The incident has raised concerns about passenger conduct and the safety of railway staff during routine inspections. Authorities stated that appropriate legal actions will be taken against the passengers, who will be charged under the relevant railway and criminal laws. The damage to railway property will also be investigated, and the accused passenger may be levied penalties.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and GRP are working in coordination to ensure that such incidents do not disrupt the service or compromise public safety. Further investigations are currently underway in the case.
