Family Demands Investigation of NCP (SP) MP in Bhiwandi Double Murder Case
Bhiwandi: The family members of BJP functionary Praful Tangadi and his cousin Tejas, who were brutally murdered on August 11, have called for a comprehensive investigation into the role of NCP (SP) Bhiwandi MP Suresh Mhatre, known as Balya Mama, and his son Sumit in the double murder case.
The family alleges that Mhatre had previously shielded the accused in an earlier attack on Praful, and they suspect that he and his son may have connections to the recent murders. They have urged the police to examine call detail records (CDRs) as part of a thorough investigation.
Praful's brother, Umesh, has submitted a written complaint to the police demanding a probe into Mhatre's role. When contacted, Mhatre stated that he is currently in Delhi and will comment only after returning to Bhiwandi and reviewing the case details.
On August 11, Praful, who was vice-president of the BJP Thane district Yuva Morcha and was also involved in real estate, and Tejas were returning home after closing their office when they were attacked with sharp weapons by a group of masked men. Police later booked 12 accused in connection with the murders. The main suspects, Vicky Mhatre and Kalpesh Vaiti, have been arrested, while others remain at large.
According to Praful's wife, Sushila, Praful had survived a firing incident in 2021, allegedly carried out by Vicky Mhatre. She claimed that the NCP (SP) MP had helped the accused evade police action. The family's continued suspicions and demands for a thorough investigation highlight the deep-seated concerns about the involvement of local political figures in the crime.
The case has garnered significant attention in Bhiwandi, and the family's call for justice has resonated with the community. The police have assured the family that they are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation and are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
