HYDRAA Reclaims Rs 1,200 Cr Worth Land from Construction Companies in Khanamet
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has taken a significant step in reclaiming an eight-acre plot of government land in Khanamet, Serilingampally mandal, Rangareddy district. The land, valued at approximately Rs 1,200 crore, was previously under the control of major real estate companies and had been the subject of unauthorized use and development.
In Survey no 55, located in Khanamet village, 4.20 acres of government land were under the control of major real estate companies. Additionally, Kolanu Sabita, the daughter of Kolanu Madhavareddy, had taken possession of another four acres of land. The situation was further complicated by the presence of temporary structures and an RCC plant set up by Vasavi Construction Company.
On Tuesday, April 7, HYDRAA acted swiftly to clear all temporary sheds and structures erected on the government land. Vasavi Construction Company voluntarily dismantled the roller-compacted concrete (RCC) structure, cooperating with the agency to facilitate the reclamation process. According to HYDRAA, the land in Survey no 55 is unassigned and has been placed on the prohibited list by the Rangareddy Collector, officially declaring it as government property.
The reclamation process began after HYDRAA received a complaint about the unauthorized occupation of the land. The agency conducted an on-site inquiry, collaborating with concerned departmental officials, to confirm the land's status. Following the verification, HYDRAA erected fencing and placed boards declaring the land as government property.
However, the situation was not without controversy. Meenakshi Real Estate Company had claimed the land as its own, and Vasavi Construction Company had set up an RCC plant along with sheds, initiating construction activities. Despite these claims, HYDRAA's thorough investigation and decisive action have successfully reclaimed the land for the government.
This move by HYDRAA is seen as a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to protect government assets and ensure that public land is not misused. The agency's proactive approach highlights the importance of stringent measures to prevent unauthorized occupation and development of government land, particularly in high-value areas like the IT corridor.
The reclamation of this land is expected to have broader implications for land management and urban development in the region. It sets a precedent for other cases of unauthorized land use and sends a clear message that such activities will not be tolerated. The government's efforts to reclaim and protect its assets are crucial for the sustainable development of the area and the well-being of the community.
