The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) continues to advance several transport infrastructure projects across the metropolitan region as part of its efforts to improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and strengthen integration between various modes of public transport.

Among the key projects is the Mumbai Monorail, India’s first monorail system, which was developed to function as a feeder service to the city’s larger mass transit network. MMRDA is also progressing Metro Line 2B, a 23.643-km elevated corridor connecting D N Nagar and Mandale through 20 stations. In the northern part of the metropolitan region, the Golden Nest Flyover in Mira-Bhayandar is being developed to address increasing traffic volumes arising from rapid urbanisation. The project is expected to improve traffic circulation along a heavily used urban corridor, facilitate smoother vehicular movement, and strengthen connectivity between residential and commercial areas. Once operational, the flyover is expected to ease bottlenecks and improve travel efficiency for commuters travelling within Mira-Bhayandar and towards Mumbai.

Together, these projects highlight MMRDA’s continued focus on expanding transport infrastructure and creating an interconnected mobility network capable of supporting the region’s growing population and economic activity.
