In preparation for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela, authorities in Nashik have decided to set up 16 new parking lots across the city. This initiative is aimed at better traffic management and ensuring that the event runs smoothly.
While various decisions are being made at the administrative level, a significant focus is on traffic planning. The decision to establish parking at sixteen strategic locations is designed to prevent traffic chaos caused by devotees arriving from eight main routes in the city. This proactive measure will help manage the influx of visitors and maintain order.
A planning meeting regarding parking was held on Monday, attended by Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri and other high-level officials. The meeting emphasized the importance of detailed traffic planning and implementation, given the large number of devotees expected to visit Nashik during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
The role of the municipal administration, public works department, and police administration, in collaboration with the civic body, will be crucial in this planning. The meeting discussed the effective use of digital technology and crowd management techniques. The goal is to ensure that devotees do not face any issues from entering the city to exiting.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Chaudhary, Police Assistant Chandrakant Khandvi, City Engineer Sanjay Agarwal, ST Department's Kiran Bhosale, Jalsanda Department's Sonal Shahane, and other officials were present at the meeting. They agreed on the need to plan meticulously to provide a seamless experience for devotees.
An important follow-up meeting is scheduled for August 21 to discuss department-wise micro-planning for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam, District Collector Jalaj Sharma, and Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri will be the chief guests at this event. This meeting will further refine the strategies to ensure the success of the Kumbh Mela.
