Pune: Traffic Diversion on Mumbai-Bangalore Highway Near Balewadi for Metro Work
Balewadi, 14th March 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police have announced a temporary closure and diversion of traffic on the Mumbai-Bangalore Highway near Balewadi Metro Station No. 10. The restriction is necessary to facilitate the construction of a Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at the site.
Closure Details and Timings The traffic changes will be in effect for a period of six hours during the night to minimize disruption to regular commuters:
• Start Time: Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 PM (23:00 hrs) • End Time: Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 5:00 AM (05:00 hrs)
Affected Routes and Diversions According to the order issued by Vivek Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch), Pimpri-Chinchwad, all types of vehicles traveling on the main highway lanes will be prohibited during the work hours.
• Mumbai to Satara Lane: Traffic will be closed on the main road and diverted to the adjacent service road. • Satara to Mumbai Lane: Traffic will be closed on the main road and diverted to the adjacent service road.
Safety Measures The notification explicitly instructs Tata Project Limited to ensure the following safety protocols:
1. Installation of visible information boards at prominent locations to guide drivers. 2. Deployment of adequate traffic wardens to assist with the flow of vehicles. 3. Proper barricading of the construction area.
The Bavdhan Traffic Division has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of these changes. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays.
